The word Panchakarma actually means “five treatments”, and these five therapeutic procedures are called Vamana, Virechan, Basti, Nasya, and Rakta Mokshan. Each person undergoing Panchakarma will get a uniquely designed treatment based on these five procedures, depending on his or her state of health, constitution, and special complaints. Ayurveda Panchakarma is a serious therapy and should be approached with an idea to surrender to the procedures. The result depends on both the person undergoing the treatments as well as the people who are providing it, which means that the work is done together by the patient and the doctor.
